Welcome to the Maloti Drakensberg Transfrontier Project
The Maloti
Drakensberg Transfrontier Conservation and Development Project (MDTP) is currently in a 5 year
implementation phase which began in December 2002. The project as a whole is being overseen by a
Bi-lateral Steering Committee which is made up of the two Project Coordinating Committee (PCC) from
Lesotho and South Africa.
The South African
PCC is chaired by the Director of Transfrontier Conservation Areas in the national Department of
Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Mr.Ernest Mokganedi. Other representation comes from the
conservation agencies of the Free State, KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape provinces, as well as South
African National Parks.

Registration of Interests
Get Involved Today
You are invited to register with MDTP to participate in the Bioregional Planning Process
for the Maloti-Drakensberg Bioregion. Areas of focus include:
- Overall strategic planning
- Protected area management
- Conservation management
- Community involvement
- Sustainable livelihoods
Consultants who wish to register are requested to send details of their area(s) of expertise
with an indication of how and where they see themselves contributing to the achievement of the
program objectives. A portfolio of previous work illustrating the relevance of their experience
shoud also be included...
